Restaurants

Where we actually eat.

Bradenton serves up Gulf seafood, Southern comfort food, and waterfront dining at every price point. These are the spots in regular rotation — not a tourist top-ten ranked by traffic.

Brunch

Slow mornings, biscuits, sage, and locally-ground coffee.

Sage Biscuit Cafe

Two locations — historic downtown Bradenton and Cortez Road. The sage biscuits and gravy are the signature.

Caesar's Breakfast Cafe

A hole-in-the-wall hidden gem. Service and food both deliver — try the fried potatoes.

Keke's Breakfast Cafe

Don't let the strip mall fool you — coffee is ground in-house and the home fries are excellent.

Lunch

Between-the-beach grabs, casual sit-downs, and a couple of waterfront stops.

Tide Tables Restaurant and Marina

Waterfront stop on the way to the island via Cortez Avenue. Mahi mahi tacos and grouper bites are the move.

Anna Maria Oyster Bar

Two mainland locations (Cortez Road and US-41 near Bayshore Gardens). Outdoor seating, often with live music.

O'Bricks Pub & Martini Bar

Downtown Bradenton — Manhattan-style martini bar meets Irish pub. Genuinely interesting menu.

Danny's Pizzeria

New York-style pies — the local favorite for pizza in Bradenton.

Avocado's

Two locations on Cortez Road and Manatee Avenue. The Cuatro Amigos tacos are the order.

Lucky Frog Restaurant

Authentic Bavarian German. Friendly staff, surprisingly good schnitzel.

Dinner

Downtown Bradenton turns out at sundown. Riverfront, rooftop, and red-sauce.

Oak & Stone

Rooftop bar with sunset views over the Manatee River. Self-pour beer wall, Philly Cheesesteak Eggrolls, Sweet Heat Pizza.

Mattison's Riverwalk Grille

Open-air gastropub with a lively vibe right on the Riverwalk.

Pier 22

Fine dining on the Manatee River in the heart of downtown Bradenton.

Ortygia

Quaint Italian spot — the kind of place locals send out-of-town family.

FOOD+BEER

Sports bar with a mini-arcade and serious wings. The jalapeño ranch is a thing.

Anna Maria Island

Once you're on the island, you're committed. Here's where to eat without resentment.

Beach House Waterfront Restaurant

Right over the Cortez Bridge. Some tables are literally in the sand. Best location, full stop.

The Ugly Grouper

Iconic, laid-back, family-friendly — and home to a 3,000-pound metal fish sculpture worth photographing.

Wicked Cantina

The margarita order. Solid Mexican food, casual vibe.

Anna Maria Oyster Bar on the Pier

Over the Cortez Bridge on the Intracoastal — laid-back Florida charm with sweeping water views.

Sandbar Seafood & Spirits

North end of Anna Maria Island. Toes in the sand, longer drive, very much worth it.
